The painting begins with its central building, which immediately captures the attention by its grandeur. The construction seems to be in the center of not only the painting but also the city, which is only being built or is in the state of some armed conflicts. The structure is cross-shaped, with one more square building being placed in the center and surrounded by the four rectangular builds with the pyramids on each of four corners. The shape of the buildings is strict and rather simple, without any ornaments or monuments serving as designing items. The central square building has a circle element on the top with a hole in it. The four long rectangular buildings are attached to the central one, making a cross. These rectangular constructions are two-floor buildings with the one outside door and others from each side of the building. The four builds have simple-form windows simply facing the yard of the structure. It seems like they are built from brick and are plastered, while the roof is of ordinary form and is made of a simple material. Overly, this cross-shaped construction is grey and, thus, looks very boring and not eye-catching. However, the size and greatness of the pyramids, the central circle construction makes all the composition look rather awesome, it seems like this constructions are made for people to see and feel the power of the city authorities. Moreover, the cloudy sky from one side and the bright sun rays from the other makes the construction like sparkle.

As it was said before, the cross-shaped building is surrounded by the eight one-floor constructions attached from one side to the end of long rectangular building parts of cross-shaped structure and to the pyramids from the other side. These smaller builds are made of dark bricks and tiled roof. Each of the constructions has an ornamented front door made of the same dark brick. However, the most breathtaking structures are the pyramids, which are about 4-5 meters high and made of light stone, since they look rather magnificently. The pyramids provide the whole structure with the terrifying effect, as all of them have a hole on the top where the thick smoke is coming. This smoke captures the sight and makes people think of its origin and thus meaning. The pyramids with the smoke make the whole central construction powerful and remembering. The tops of the pyramids are much darker than their lower parts, as the smoke made the stone cluttered with dust and, as a result, dark. There are the entrance doors in the pyramids from the outside front sides, which are made of the stones. These doors attract the people enter the grand pyramids to understand their purpose from inner side.

The structure forms the four inside yards that seem to be full of rows of bricks that evidences about the city just being built. The inner yards are made of even covering of the concrete that adds to the structure more strictness. Moreover, the outside buildings are standing on high concrete platforms, which make one unable to freely approach the structure. The platforms add the whole construction the sight of protection and even might. Apparently, only the frontier side of the structure has the stairs form both sides that lead to the main entrance of the building that makes it sound much more protected. It seems like the plain covering of grass is encircling the concrete structure. Thus, this construction provokes the sad and even terrifying impression by the grunge and boredom of the buildings’ forms. Furthermore, the cloudy weather and the thick smoke from the four pyramids’ holes append darkness and sadness to the picture. However, it is not clear whether the whole building is so gloomy or the outer factors such as smoke and weather make this structure look in this way.

The cross-shaped construction with its concrete entailing is surrounded by other buildings and mountains from the various sides. Therefore, the central structure is much brighter than the building itself. The mountains are majestic, covered with bushes, trees and somewhere snow, while the buildings are ornamented with colons and figured roofs. There is a great square in front of the central structure, which seems to be a road as well. The people, horse riders and the carriages overflowed the frontier square, seeming as if they are simply walking and relaxing that is an absolutely opposite image in comparison with the central gloomy building. The square is the only place in the painting that shows the signs of life in the city. Moreover, the image of square gives the whole painting the positive meaning, as without it the city would look deserted and even gloomier.

The square is divided into two sides by the parade road that leads to the entrance of the central structure. The roads as well as the square are covered by the paving that provides the whole image of the painting with the grandiosity and makes it look wealthy. Moreover, the other squares and roads around the cross-shaped structure are covered with paving as well. Evidently, both front squares have the same rectangular builds, which seem to be the municipal buildings of the city. The both buildings have two towers on their tops made of colons that hold the tiled roofs entailed by the circle concrete element. Not only the top towers but also the buildings themselves in their central parts are decorated by the colonial elements. The walls of the structures are made of light brick with the tiny square and rectangular windows reaching the very bottom of the buildings. On the left of one colonel structure and on the right of the other one are sitting the strange rectangular constructions comprising three square small builds connected by the colonial rows. The side structures are placed on the concrete platform, and the central ones serve as entrances. These constructions seem to be built of the light brick as well as the central construction, but the gloomy weather and cloudy sky as well as the straight lines of the trees give them the dark shade. Thus, the square and the colonial buildings in front of the central construction provide it with even greater feelings of its power. And if the central construction would be decorated with some colons and ornaments, it perceived as the palace.

The left and back sides of the central cross-shaped structure are placed with the long rectangular constructions enclosed by the figured colons supporting the rectanguale-trianguale roof made of tile the same as other constructions in the painting. However, it is unclear whether the whole construction is formed by the colons or they serve simply as an ornament and supporting elements for the roof and building. These constructions are decorated with the triangle ornaments on the front and back walls and some unclear elements of decors in each of the triangle. These decors possibly carry some special meaning to the city but it is hard to analyze them due to their unclearness. The long rectangular constructions seem to serve as an entrance to the series of houses. These constructions also contain inner yards. The houses are also ornamented by the colons, figured roofs and arches. Apparently, the wealthy people or the state elite live in such residences. Moreover, the front squares of the above construction are mutual with the central cross-shaped structure. The structures give the whole image the sense of wealth of the city, making it look brighter and more curious from the architecture point of view.  It seems that there are a lot of bricks on the squares, meaning the continuity of building works in the city.

The right side of the cross-shaped structure is sat with the three palace-like buildings. Two of them share the city square with the cross-shaped structure and one is constructed near the mountains, in the suburbs. The two nearer palaces are built on the concrete platform that contains the two-sided mirror stairs leading to the palaces’ entrances. Palaces have the form of rectangles with two smaller houses on the sides. One of the palaces is ornamented with the arch-shaped windows and the entrance door, and the other one is surrounded by the colons and the ornamented figures under the roof. The close-mountain palace seems to be the most grandiose construction on the concrete platform and surrounded by trees and mountains. The palace is sitting with the smaller houses on the sides. The front side of the palace is decorated by the magnificent colons forming the arches and the both sides’ stairs leading to the colons. Thus, the palaces are similar to the all city’s architecture but the central cross-shaped construction that creates the overall architectural composition. The buildings are like playing in the architectural ensemble borrowing some elements each other.

The other space of the picture is covered by the mountains, which slightly start in the suburbs of the state and become immensely prominent growing to the sky, transferring from the bushes and trees, and changing the plains into the rocky and snowy picks. However, behind the cross-shaped structure on one of the plain tops there is the palace, which seems to be small being situated far but is rather big containing a circle central tower and two or even three structures decorated with the colons and attached to the central tower. The palace is built on the concrete platform with the two stairs in each of its four sides leading to the palace’s terraces. The palace looks bright being made of light bricks or stones and shone by the sunrays. It seems like very wealthy merchants or state authorities are living there on the top of city to observe its life to the full. This building is the last visible object on the horizon, as the huge mountains seem to surround the city, protecting it from enemies and natural disasters. The mountains add the sense of protection to the city along with less visible concrete under buildings platforms and doors.

The sky and the mountains give considerable shades in the painting, as it seems to be light with slight clouds in front of the picture moving into dark and rainy ones to the top of the painting and possibly its perspective. The rays from the dark clouds fall over the city, its squares, buildings, and mountains, making it gloomy on one side and bright on the other one. Thus, the peeks of the mountains look light, while the valleys seem to be covered with darkness and mist. However, the most precise atmosphere of the painting is created by the thick clubs of smoke, originating from the pyramids. The smoke makes the picture look rather gloomy like notifying some dangerous. On the other hand, the rows of bricks or stones on the squares foresee the bright future of the state, symbolizing its flourishing.
